Latvijas Skrituļslidošanas federācija ir nosūtījusi oficiālu vēstuli World Skate ģenerālsekretāram par nostāju saistībā ar Krievijas iebrukumu Ukrainā.

On the morning of 24 February 2022, the launch of a large-scale military invasion of Ukraine
by the Russian Federation (also involving the Republic of Belarus) is not only an open,
cynical and brutal crackdown on the sovereignty of the Ukrainian State, but also against the
fundamental values and principles of a democratic state and society.

In this situation, the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, the President of Latvia and the
government strongly condemns the military aggression of the Russian Federation. Latvia is
united in the common position of the democratic world against military aggression by the
Russian Federation and fully supports further political sanctions by the European Union
while implementing assistance programmes for Ukraine and the people of Ukraine.

In view of the situation in Ukraine, as well as the position of the state of Latvia, the Latvian
Rollerskating Federation – we call for the cessation of cooperation in the field of roller sport
with Russia and Belarus, which are warring the country of Ukraine and ferociously targets
the Ukrainian people. We call to ban for the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes
in international competitions and for the closure of the activities of Russian and Belarusian
national federations in the International Federation World Skate.

Sincerely yours,
Lelde Vancovica
Secretary General
Latvian Rollerskating Federation
